Hi Chris,
I am sure the weather is the least of your worries at the moment but yes, more accurate regional forcasts are on tap here.
Dry and brighter here today in North Yorks. after yesterdays downpours. Seems very quiet without the constant gutter overflows.
Take care

It's been glorious here again......managed to get some gardening done.
Does anyone know of a good chicken deterrant? Next door's keep coming through to my garden and I can't keep the cluckers out  ;D
My dog caught one of them on Friday and I only just got there in time..... but even that's not put the frighteners on them!
They don't even have the decency to lay any eggs on my side of the hedge  >:(

As a chicken owner myself ........are they getting through a hole in the fence or are they flying over ? if they are flying ask the owner to clip their wings...if they do get in they are good for keeping the bugs annd slugs away. Not realy any other deterrant for them I'm afraid

Thanks Skipperted
Evidently their wings have been clipped but they are good at climbing then leaping!!
My neighbour had to keep them in their tiny run yesterday as me and my dog were outside all day, but my hubby bought some plastic mesh stuff to fasten in the hedge so hopefully that might do the trick. If not, I'm either going to put barbed wire and broken glass on the top or resort to Chris's suggestion!!
They did send me a box of fresh eggs this morning with a note to say thank you for saving them from the stockpot and allowing them out of their prison! It was signed from Tikka, Masala, Supreme, and Kiev!!
Lovely weather again by the way.....I think Spring has sprung!

we had to take ours home a few years ago due to their run  at the allotment being flooded with rain.
ours kept escaping into neighbours gardens too so whe had to make our fences a bit higher with trellis etc...we even found once one of them had walked into the house, through the kitchen into the living room, hopped onto the dining table and then onto the window sill where it was enjoying the view and basking in the sun...ours by the way are called Miss Marple , Margaret Rutherford and Henrietta !

Its a sunny afternoon here in Cumbria has spring arrived or is it just giving us a false sense of security and a bit of "look" what your missing  ;D.

Hi to Ian314 . Haley and Barbara who I see are online as I write....

A bit of bad news too.....the chickens I mentioned earlier ... one of them died yesterday afternoon after a short ilness , It died peacfully in the wifes arms after we had  taken it home to try and nurse it better.
It's suprising how close you can get to an animal .. even a chicken ! :'(
