Ginger Nuts
« on: Aug 17 2010, 10:17 PM »
Hi Everyone
I thought i would like to share this with you all, i have been looking for something other than medication for my sickness. I feel sick all the time, I use sea bands which I find very good but I don't get costant relief from them. So i went to the local chemist to ask if they could think of anything else I could try and he suggested ginger, I told him I had tried ginger but it had upset my stomach. So he suggested I tried ginger nut biscuits , so I brought some I get instant reflief from the sickness.
I have some in a tin by my bed so i can have one before I get up because this is the worst time for me, when I wake up my head spins and I feel sick.

and here's a recipe from Delia for chocolate chip ginger nuts. I guess you could leave out the chocolate if you can't tolerate it.
Or leave it in if your feeling naughty ;D .. well it is only a small amount.

Thanks for the recipe, i love cooking it takes me a long time because i have to keep sitting down to calm the dizziness down. But i am so pleased with myself when I have finished and every says what a good cook I am. ;D (Sounds really sad).
I have signed up for that website, i am always looking for something different to cook.
Shame we don't live near each other we could have a coffee morning with ginger nuts. ;D

Wasn't sure what I was going to be reading about when I opened this topic DB  :D

I hoped it wasn't a slur on our red-haired forum members!!

Anyhow, just to say I love ginger in any form - just been sipping a glass of ginger beer actually!  Always makes me sneeze!!

I use to have Stones Ginger Wine when I went out drinking, that was years ago now and i don't know if they still make it. It was really warming on a cold winters evening. :P
We could have homemade ginger biscuits, ginger wine, ginger beer and ginger ale with a dash lime at our coffee morning and then none of us would feel sick. ;D  ;D

Holland & Barrett have Ginger chews which are very good to for nausea and I think quite gentle on the tum.
I used to have ginger beer and lime with a large dash of Vodka....! ;) in my student nurse days, way before the dizzies set in.

I have an online traditional sweet shop and sell crystallised stem ginger and it really does help with the sickness. I now keep a bag in the kitchen so can grab a piece throughout the day.

I often buy crystallized stem ginger to keep in the cupboard.  I reckon I eat it almost every day too Tara!  I eat it because I like it!!

all this talk about Ginger is making my mouth water
when I was pregnant with my third child
Ginger nuts were my cravings
I ate half a packet for breakfast and the rest throughout the day ;D
would have killed anyone who touched them,
thankfully I didn't get the same craving with my fourth
I might have had to be rolled into the delivery room, ;D
